Sponsor
The Suburban Abyss is an independent enterprise supported by independent businesses and individuals like you. As that relates to financial support, I prefer the term “sponsorship” to “advertising,” though sponsors are permitted to advertise in the traditional sense. Corporations, however, are prohibited from sponsoring The Suburban Abyss. That’s just the way it is.
For the rest of you, there are four tiers of sponsorship. For rates, please contact me here.
The Shoutout – A simple and inexpensive way to sponsor The Suburban Abyss. At the end of each week’s episode, I’ll give you or your independent business a shoutout by name, and I’ll post it on The Suburban Abyss Facebook page, too.
The Supporter – A 15-second spot before or after the episode, traditionally referred to as a “commercial.” And it can indeed be used to highlight a commercial interest such as an independent business or creative project, but it could be used to talk about just about anything – your favorite Ford or fjord, the amazing ham sandwich you ate last week, etc. Anything goes, unless it’s racist, sexist, xenophobic, creepy and/or likely to land us both in legal trouble. You’ll get a shoutout on Facebook, too.
The Benefactor – The Benefactor gets 30 seconds to use for just about anything and cancels out the two weekly Supporter spots. Hate commercials and just want to hear the podcast without interruptions? The Benefactor also has the option of wielding his/her/their power to forgo the 30-second spot and make the episode commercial-free. In lieu of the spot, I will conclude the episode by declaring, “ALL HAIL THE BENEFACTOR, [YOUR NAME HERE].” I’ll post the declaration on The Suburban Abyss Facebook page, too.
The Philanthro-geist – Want to support The Suburban Abyss and stay in the shadows like some sort of big-hearted giving ghost? Become a Philanthro-geist! This spooky monthly sponsorship is name-your-price, pay-as-you-go and easy to set up for automatic withdrawals via Paypal (no account needed). A handful of monthly rates have already been set up.
